![]() ![]() Far Cry 3 Classic didn't have such problem (at least not in February 2021) and neither did Blood Dragon on PS3. And yet, I wonder why the problem exists in the first place. Going forward with the game, getting upgrades and getting used to it, the problem has less impact but remains a major flaw. Ubisoft seems to have forgot this cause Blood Dragon's aiming is bad and ruins most of the game: it's difficult to aim correctly, the aiming feels slippery and lacking proper response. Ah right, it's a shooter: what about the shooting?! The saying goes: "If in a game where you shoot, shooting is bad, you don't have fun". Power Glove's synthwave soundtrack is explosive and fits perfectly the 1980s sci-fi mood of the game one of the best works in game soundtracks. Artistically the game is great, stylish in the 1980s sci-fi aesthetics of weapons, characters and scenarios. Graphically the game is like Far Cry 3 Classic with the same improvements: 1080p resolution and little more lack of 60 frames per second is still disappointing. ![]() Also, despite good amount of content the danger of boredom is eventually always there. I found the movement of player character, both in turning around and speed, a bit slow and woody, except when sprinting, in which it becomes a rocket. The game is pretty easy, even at the highest skill level, except when fighting the titular blood dragons which require more effort. Enemies are mostly 1980s stylish sci-fi iterations of enemies from Far Cry 3. Variety of weapons is very reduced compared to Far Cry 3, but their cool sci-fi aesthetic design does compensate, also there is one special weapon, absurd, ridiculous and cool, that is worth the whole Far Cry 3 arsenal. Unlike Far Cry 3, the game has simplified mechanics: it's not possible to sell but only to buy items from automatic vendors and the XPs based levelling is automatic: each level up improves skills, on rotating basis, without the player being able to decide which one or in which order. Stealth approach can be done but I think it's less feasible than in Far Cry 3, except with the use of the bow. There are outposts to be cleared from enemies. As in Far Cry 3, there are main and side quests, however side quests are on the verge of fetch quests although some are very fun. The island is a different, smaller-scale open world map than Rook Islands. In fact, the gameplay is identical if not for a few minor changes. Blood Dragon is a standalone expansion which gameplay lays on the solid foundations of Far Cry 3. The choice of narrating the events via cutscenes in slideshow-styled 16-bit animations might not like it to everyone, but it's done very well and fits the game's vintage theme. Humour never exceeds, it's never boring and allows the plot to keep the dignity of taking itself seriously just enough. Characters are ridiculous but credible and make fun of themselves and the pop culture upon which the plot itself rests. Its writing based on 1980s grand American sci-fi cinema works incredibly well. Blood Dragon's plot it's a witty and irreverent yet intriguing and brilliant sci-fi tale. Unfortunately, in some cases, their potential is foolishly undermined by non-ignorable major flaws.
